About Our Vocation
Concerning Bishops, Pastors and Preachers
1 Timothy 3:1-7
1 The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a
noble task. 2 Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one
wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3 not a
drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. 4 He must
manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, 5 for
if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for
God's church? 6 He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with
conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil. 7 Moreover, he must be well
thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into a snare of the devil.
TABLE OF DUTIES (from Luther's Small Catechism)
To Bishops, Pastors, and Preachers
He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can
encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it. Titus 1:9
To Husbands
Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them
with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so
that nothing will hinder your prayers. 1 Peter 3:7
Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them. Col. 3:19
To Wives
Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. Eph. 5:22
They were submissive to their own husbands, like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and
called him her master. You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give
way to fear. 1 Peter 3:5–6
To Parents
Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and
instruction of the Lord. Eph. 6:4
To Children
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and your
mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise—“that it may go well with
you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.” Eph. 6:1–3

About Us
This is our family;
James and Tiina
Maggie is 5 1/2, Tristan is 4, Sarai is 2 1/2, and Sofia is 1 year old.
At the moment we are living in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso first to learn French
and then to begin learning the tribal language Gulmancema. I have been sent by
the Board for Mission Services to share the Gospel and plant churches among the
people who speak Gulmancema. This includes eastern Burkina Faso, northeast
Togo, northwest Benin, and western Niger.
